You now have the opportunity of undertaking a tour of the “Suduwelipotha Estate”, located in Hikkaduwa, to experience the centuries old Cinnamon processing techniques and practices, which have survived the changing times for over thousands of years in Sri Lanka. Since the Portuguese occupation of Ceylon in the year 1505, Sri Lanka became known as the source of the finest Cinnamon in the world.

“Suduwelipotha Estate” is arguably the most scenic Cinnamon Estate in Southern Sri Lanka, spanning over 30 Acres, set in a magical setting, bordering the pristine Hikkaduwa Lake. The Estate is also home to the “The Niche”, a boutique hotel like no other with breathtaking views, serenity, seclusion, privacy and nature’s beauty.

The Ultimate Cinnamon Experience offers a half a day tour of the “Suduwelipotha Estate”, where visitors can experience and also try their hand in the entire process of Cinnamon peeling at the “Peeler’s Barn” located on a scenic spot in the Estate overlooking the Hikkaduwa Lake.  The “Peeler’s Barn” is operational almost around the year, where more than 25 Peelers are regularly engaged in Cinnamon Peeling using age old technics and traditional methods handed down to them by their forefathers/ancestors. Visitors could try their hand in the entire process of Cinnamon Peeling and thereby experience the centuries old technics and methods handed down from generation to generation in processing this wonder spice native to Sri Lanka carrying the scientific name ‘Cinnamomum Verum’.

The Ultimate Cinnamon Experience, a carefully curated tour of the Cinnamon Estate, includes refreshments at the “Cinnamon Heights”, a viewing deck with stunning views of the Hikkaduwa Lake and Lunch at the “Cinnamon Trails” Restaurant overlooking the infinite Swimming Pool located at the “The Niche”.  The discerning visitors could also take part in Cookery Demonstrations conducted by Villagers, where Visitors could experience Sri Lankan cooking using magical spices, including Pure Ceylon Cinnamon processed at the Estate. The “Cinnamon Trader” gift boutique offers a wide range of Pure Ceylon Cinnamon products which the Visitors could purchase prior to leaving the Estate with unforgettable memories.
